From last month, here’s Colin, Frank, and I jamming on the old Grey Eagle at the Arcata Playhouse, with a bigfoot jug band! Its pretty fun to play shows with an instrument I built myself!
Well holy moly, we had a heckuva time at the Arcata Playhouse last night (can you tell by our ecstatic faces?). The lads at Missing Link Records threw a secret show with Frank Fairfield, and Colin and I played an opening set, and then picked a sets worth of tunes with Frank, all backed up by a bigfoot jug band!
Colin and I shot a video with Chuck Johnson for a new live video series that he’s working on. The song is Turkle Dove!

A jam in the dry room at the Vance Banjos shop, with myself on my new Vance resonator banjo and Colin himself playing fiddle. The tune is Snake Chapman’s Tune, which I learned from Elise Engelberg when I went down to San Francisco to play with the Crooked Jades.
Here’s the melodic banjo thing I worked out for this. I’ll let you figure out how to play the harmony parts yourself.
